What’s next for the Grafton Base Hospital redevelopment?
A portion of the former Grafton Gaol is set to be acquired to support the upgrade
The Grafton Base Hospital Redevelopment in Australia has advanced with the acquisition of a portion of the former Grafton Gaol from Property and Development NSW.
A development application approved by the Northern Regional Planning Panel allows the refurbishment of two administration blocks in the northeastern section of the former minimum-security portion of the gaol.
These blocks will be repurposed for modern administrative, office, and training facilities.
Meanwhile, clinical services will remain on the existing Grafton Hospital site.
Planning and design work is underway for the main redevelopment, which will include a new three-storey acute services building featuring an emergency department, emergency short-stay unit, medical imaging and MRI facilities, and an inpatient unit.
