Australia invests $179.4m in Grafton Base Hospital redevelopment

The project involves a new three-storey building and an expanded day surgery and operating suite.

The Australian government has invested approximately $179m (A$263.8m) in the redevelopment of the Grafton Base Hospital in New South Wales (NSW).

The project will deliver a three-storey building, including a new emergency department, medical imaging and MRI, and an inpatient unit.

The new building will also feature a space for maternity services to be relocated in the future.

Meanwhile, the hospital’s day surgery and operating suite will be expanded to provide two extra theatres for increased capacity.

Construction timeframes will be confirmed once planning is finalised and a builder is engaged.
