Western Australia launches ‘WAVEDKids’ for paediatric emergency care

Western Australia has launched WAVEDKids, an extension of the ‘WA Virtual Emergency Department’ initiative, to provide paediatric emergency care.
The service is being rolled out in stages, with plans to expand to meet demand.
Under the programme, parents and carers who call Healthdirect may be offered a WAVEDKids consultation instead of being directed to an emergency department.
The initiative is operated through the State Health Operations Centre.
