Western Australia increases PATS fuel subsidy by 54%
Thanks to a $12.07m (A$18.5m) investment in the 2025-26 State Budget.
The fuel subsidy under the Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS) in Western Australia has been increased by 54%, from $0.17 (A$0.26) to $0.26 (A$0.40) per kilometre, according to the state government.
The increase is part of a $12.07m (A$18.5m) investment in the 2025-26 State Budget.
Moreover, $10.1m (A$15.5m) will be allocated to expand eligibility criteria for patients travelling for specialised treatment.
PATS currently assists over 35,000 regional Western Australians each year by subsidising travel and accommodation costs for medical appointments.
