Three Victorian hospitals enter voluntary merger to form Bayside Health

The merger, effective 1 January 2026, was approved by all services' boards in early December.

A voluntary merger between Alfred Health, Peninsula Health, and Kooweerup Regional Health will create Bayside Health, expected to benefit over one million Victorians in Australia.

Bayside Health will provide unified access to existing services, with plans to expand community involvement in clinical trials and health research. It will span from Melbourne’s south, Bayside, the Peninsula, and Gippsland.

The merger, effective from 1 January 2026, was approved by the boards of all three health services in early December.

In its first step, Peninsula Health and Kooweerup Regional Health will work together to merge their services.
