South Korea announces collaboration with Singapore to boost public and digital health

They also plan to strengthen their biohealth industries.

South Korea’s Health and Welfare Minister, Cho Kyoo-Hong, and Singapore’s Senior Minister of State Janil Puthucheary have discussed expanding future collaboration to enhance public health systems and promote digital health.

According to a statement, both ministers have agreed to initiate discussions on signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to formalise health cooperation, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Korea-Singapore diplomatic relations next year.

Moreover, both leaders plan to strengthen their biohealth industries.

In line with this, Cho engaged with A*STAR chairman, Tan Chorh Chuan and toured Singapore’s Biopolis complex to discuss research and development support policies and success factors.

He also met with Korean scientists and entrepreneurs in Singapore’s biohealth sector to learn about success stories and policy recommendations.

The discussions included enhancing global expansion through the ASEAN market and strengthening international joint research.
