SoKor, Cambodia launch joint maternal and infant healthcare project

The KOICA will provide maternal and infant care facilities to the province.

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) and the Cambodian Ministry of Health cooperated to strengthen maternity and infant care under the Maternal and Infant Health Promotion Project. The ground-breaking ceremony for the project was held on 21 January at the Koh Nhek Referral Hospital in Mondulkiri.

Mondulkiri Governor Thong Savon said that the support of the South Korean government and the project is important to the people of Mondulkiri and contributes to the strengthening of the healthcare system. The governor also requested assistance from the ambassador for the construction of referral hospitals in the province, providing medical equipment, and training of medical professionals.

Korean Ambassador Park Heung Kyeong stated Cambodia is an important partner in Korea's Official Development Assistance, and the project will play a role in providing health care services to mothers and infants in Mondulkiri.
