SNUH automates health information tasks through RPA technology

About 11% of daily record management tasks were automated.

Seoul National University Hospital has implemented robotic process automation (RPA) technology within its Health Information Management team to streamline administrative workflows as part of its broader digital transformation initiative.

Approximately 11% of daily record management tasks were automated, leading to a  70% reduction in processing time.

The RPA was applied to nine key workflows, including medical record completeness audits and monthly statistical reporting.

Meanwhile, manual processes stemming from limitations in the hospital information system were restructured before implementation.

The transformation involved the use of Python to process unstructured data from the hospital’s Clinical Data Warehouse, which was then integrated into the RPA system.
