Singapore launches $5.12m stroke rehabilitation initiative
The Lien Foundation will invest $4m (S$5.09m) over four years to fund the project.
The $5.12m (S$6.59m) ‘Stroke Rehab Ecosystem’ initiative began its rollout in August, led by the Lien Foundation, Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH).
The Lien Foundation will invest approximately $4m (S$5.09m) over four years to fund the project.
SGH, TTSH and community partners — including AWWA, NTUC Health, Stroke Support Station (S3), St Luke’s ElderCare and SPD — will co-develop care pathways, rehabilitation approaches, and clinical guidelines.
In addition, the foundation will commit $1.2m (S$1.5m) to establish an adaptive gym for stroke survivors.
The facility will be operated by S3 and will support recovery and ongoing physical maintenance after day rehabilitation.
Moreover, an integrated mobile application will be developed by TTSH, SGH and community partners for stroke survivors beyond formal rehabilitation.
The initiative is expected to benefit over 2,000 stroke survivors.
