SGH offers new imaging technique for atypical femoral fractures
The method uses low-dose radiation to capture detailed images of the entire femur.
Singapore General Hospital has integrated a dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) full-length femur imaging (FFI) technique to support the early detection of atypical femoral fractures (AFFs).
The imaging method uses low-dose radiation to capture detailed images of the entire femur, allowing clinicians to identify early signs such as cortical thickening and stress fractures.
DXA FFI is designed for patients at risk of AFFs, particularly those undergoing long-term bisphosphonate or denosumab treatment.
