Rockhampton Hospital’s expanded ED boosts acute treatment care

An emergency fast-track area features 12 new treatment spaces.

Queensland’s Rockhampton Hospital’s expanded emergency department features nine new spaces for acute treatment care, according to the Australian government.

The spaces include seven beds, two recliner treatment chairs, and an additional consultation and treatment room.

Meanwhile, an emergency fast-track area features 12 new treatment spaces, occupying the space vacated by the Orthopaedic Clinic, which relocated to a new facility in June.

The fast-track area is a specialised space within the emergency department for non-complex cases such as sprains, strains, minor cuts, ear and tooth pain, respiratory infections, and superficial burns.
