Philippine gov’t approves $484m project for health system resilience

17 provinces have been identified for its pilot phase.

The Philippines’ National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Board has approved a $484m (PHP27.9b) project to boost the health system’s resiliency.

The ‘Philippines: Health System Resilience Project, Phase 1’ programme aims to improve key areas such as health emergency prevention, preparedness, and response in vulnerable areas across the country.

It will also focus on developing an enabling environment for project management, monitoring and evaluation, and Contingency Emergency Response Component.

Meanwhile, the programme will prioritise areas with limited access to services, with the country’s health department having identified 17 provinces for its pilot phase.
