New Toowoomba Medicare Urgent Care Clinic to open for accessible healthcare
The Medicare UCC will start operations on 23 October.
The Albanese and Palaszczuk governments declared the opening of the Toowoomba Medicare Urgent Care Clinic (Medicare UCC) on 23 October to allow Toowoomba residents to see a doctor easily.
In a statement, Australia’s health government said following an Expression of Interest process, Toowoomba Medical and Dental Centre will be established as a Medicare UCC to support the wider community.
The new clinic will handle urgent care to decongest the nearby Toowoomba Hospital, which can now handle high-priority emergencies.
“The Medicare UCC will be open seven days a week, with extended hours and offer walk-in care that is fully bulk billed,” read the statement.
One in five presentations to Toowoomba Hospital are for non-urgent or semi-urgent care.
