New specialised hearing and balance hub opens at Seoul St. Mary’s

The centre offers non-surgical drug therapies, amongst others.

The Catholic University of Korea Seoul St. Mary’s Hospital has inaugurated its specialised Tinnitus, Hearing Loss, and Dizziness Centre, according to a press release.

The hospital said that these three conditions often stem from interconnected causes—such as inner ear disorders, auditory nerve abnormalities, or central nervous system issues.

By housing experts from otolaryngology, neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, and paediatrics under one roof, the facility ensures a team-based approach to patient care.

Under the leadership of Director Professor Park Si-nae, the centre offers non-surgical drug therapies and complex surgical interventions, including cochlear implants.

It will also feature a specialised Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT) to help patients habituate to internal noise and a pioneering mobile chatbot-based hearing rehabilitation programme.

Additionally, the centre provides faculty-managed Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT) aimed at the rapid restoration of balance and the prevention of chronic recurrence.
