Medicover launches Navi Mumbai Liver Clinic for early diagnosis and care
This is amidst rising liver disease cases.
Medicover Hospital has launched a dedicated liver clinic in Navi Mumbai as cases of fatty liver disease, hepatitis, alcohol-related liver injury, and other metabolic liver disorders continue to rise.
The new clinic is designed to support earlier detection and long-term management of liver disease through structured screening and diagnostic evaluation.
Risk factors such as diabetes, obesity, hypothyroidism, sedentary lifestyles, alcohol use, hepatitis B and C infections, autoimmune conditions, and family history are contributing to a growing number of liver problems.
Many patients do not show symptoms in the early stages, which means the disease is often diagnosed only after it has progressed to fibrosis, cirrhosis, or liver failure.
According to Dr Vikram Dharap, consultant gastroenterologist, hepatologist, and therapeutic endoscopist, the clinic focuses on identifying high-risk individuals early through targeted screening and detailed testing.
He said the aim is to catch the disease before it advances and to slow or stop its progression.
The screening programme is especially recommended for individuals with diabetes mellitus, obesity, hypothyroidism, alcohol use, hepatitis B or C infection, family history of liver disease, and autoimmune liver conditions.
The clinic also focuses on preventive liver health in selected high-risk patients.
It offers tests including FibroScan, liver function tests (LFT), complete blood counts (CBC), triple marker testing (as indicated), and abdominal ultrasound scans where needed.
These are used to assess fat buildup, inflammation, fibrosis, and liver performance.
