Iswarya Hospital opens specialised vertigo clinic in Chennai
The condition impacts six crore people, whilst most over-60s experience dizziness.
Iswarya Hospital has launched a specialised vertigo diagnostics and treatment clinic in Chennai, offering advanced care for patients experiencing vertigo, dizziness, and functional balance disorders, delivered by neurologists and ENT specialists.
Around six crore people in India suffer from vertigo, whilst approximately 65% of those aged over 60 experience dizziness or imbalance, often on a daily basis, Senior Consultant Neurologist at Iswarya Hospital, Chennai, Dr Deepa Avadhani, said.
The clinic provides specialised vestibular tests and posturography to accurately identify balance disorders, with treatment tailored to the underlying cause, including evidence-based repositioning manoeuvres and vestibular rehabilitation therapy.
Senior Consultant Neurosurgeons Dr Pradeep Balaji and Dr Agnetia Vinoth emphasised the importance of identifying the exact cause of vertigo.
They noted that advanced AI-enabled diagnostic tests can accurately determine whether the condition originates from the inner ear or the brain, enabling cause-specific treatment for effective recovery.
“Our Vertigo Clinic will bridge the critical gap in neurological and ENT care by offering precise diagnosis, advanced vestibular testing, and evidence-based treatment. Our mission is to help patients regain balance, confidence, and quality of life,” said Professor Dr Rajasundaram, Chief Executive Officer of Iswarya Hospital.
