India lays foundation for AIIMS Darbhanga in Bihar

The development will include a 750-bed super-speciality hospital.

India’s Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has laid the foundation stone for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Darbhanga, Bihar's second after Patna.

The new institute, costing approximately $150m (Rs. 1,264 crores), will include a 750-bed super-speciality hospital, a medical college, residential facilities for doctors and staff, and a night shelter for patients and attendants.

The development aims to improve healthcare access for Bihar's Mithila, Koshi, and Tirhut sectors, and nearby areas in West Bengal and Nepal.
