IHH Healthcare acquires Timberland Medical Centre
The acquisition includes the construction of a $53m tertiary hospital.
Pantai Holdings Sdn Bhd, an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of IHH Healthcare Berhad (IHH), has completed the acquisition of the entity behind Timberland Medical Centre.
Through the acquisition, IHH has expanded its portfolio of quality healthcare offerings in East Malaysia, catering to local communities and medical tourists in East Malaysia.
The purchase also includes the earmarked land in central Kuching, assigned for the construction of a $52.33m (RM245m) 200-bed tertiary hospital.

“As our patient numbers grow, we recognise the need to enhance our capacity and reach to better serve them. With the acquisition of Timberland Medical Centre and expansion into Sarawak, we will be preparing for the future, while ensuring a quality healthcare experience for all our patients, here and now,” Jean-François Naa, CEO of IHH Healthcare Malaysia, said.
With the acquisition, Timberland Medical Centre joins IHH Healthcare’s expansive healthcare network which includes 11 Pantai Hospitals and four Gleneagles Hospitals.
