IHH Healthcare to acquire Malaysia’s Island Hospital for $900m

The group expects over $46m (RM200m) in synergies within five years.

IHH Healthcare is set to acquire Island Hospital in Penang, Malaysia for approximately $900m (RM3.9b).

Through its subsidiary Pantai Holdings Sdn Bhd., the group entered a sales purchase agreement (SPA) with Comprehensive Care Sdn Bhd, a company controlled by Affinity Equity Partners.

In a statement, the group expects over $46m (RM200m) in synergies over the next five years through the integration of the 600-bed hospital into its network.

This will include improvements in operational efficiency, consolidating procurement, and opportunities for cross-referral of patients across Malaysia.
