Hong Kong eyes medical innovation with new key initiatives

One goal is to create a ‘GBA Clinical Trial Collaboration Platform’.

The Steering Committee on Health & Medical Innovation Development, chaired by Health Secretary Lo Chung-mau, held its second meeting to discuss key initiatives driving medical innovation in Hong Kong.

The committee discussed policy initiatives and offered advice on the establishment of the ‘Centre for Medical Products Regulation’ and the development of the ‘Greater Bay Area International Clinical Trial Institute’.

Lo said that the Health Bureau will collaborate with Shenzhen to create the ‘GBA Clinical Trial Collaboration Platform’,  to extend the research and development network and expedite clinical trials.

The bureau will also establish a ‘Real-World Study & Application Centre’ to develop HK as an international health and medical innovation hub.
