
Groundwork begins on $311m Bunbury hospital redevelopment
The project will feature a seven-storey clinical tower.
Western Australia’s $311m (A$471.5m) Bunbury Regional Hospital redevelopment has progressed with groundworks underway on a seven-storey clinical tower and helideck.
Managing contractor Multiplex Perkins Unincorporated Joint Venture has begun stage one of construction following the completion of site works.
The project also includes refurbishment of existing facilities for a dedicated new mental health observation unit, an expanded acute psychiatric unit, and an upgraded central energy plant.
The completed Bunbury redevelopment will feature an expanded emergency department, more operating theatres, a new central sterilisation department, a new and expanded maternity, birthing and neonatal services, and increased in-patient wards.
It will also include new emergency access mental health facilities, new clinical equipment, refurbished and expanded support facilities, and improved digital infrastructure.
Moreover, it will house the state’s first regional healthcare training, education, and research centre.
