Emerging markets to see slightly slower health expenditure growth in 2025
Meanwhile, Mainland China and India are expected to witness high growth in health spending.
Health expenditure in emerging markets is expected to experience a slight slowdown in 2025, according to a BMI report.
Of these markets, Mainland China and India are projected to see continued high growth in health spending in 2025, with increases of 9.2% and 8.6%, respectively.
Emerging markets made significant health sector investments post-COVID-19, particularly in 2023 and 2024, focusing on infrastructure, specialist services, personnel, and public health.
However, with the provision of medical services in these regions set to normalise in 2025, exceptional health spending is expected to decrease.
