UAE increases health funding amidst economic diversification effort
This represents a 10.4% increase from the 2024 budget.
As part of its multi-year fiscal plan for 2022-2026, the UAE has allocated $1.56b (AED5.74b) for healthcare and community prevention services, reflecting a 10.4% increase from the 2024 budget.
According to BMI, the increase in public financing for the UAE’s healthcare system underscores the sector’s growing importance as the country pursues non-oil economic diversification.
“We have maintained our positive outlook on public health expenditure growth in the UAE, which we expect to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.7% over our 2022-2028 forecast period,” BMI said.
Meanwhile, private health expenditure is expected to surpass public funding, with a CAGR of 9.3% over the same period.
The UAE has approved its federal budget for the upcoming fiscal year, with total expenditure set at $19.47b (AED71.5b). This supplements the individual budgets of the seven emirates, with a focus on social and welfare spending.
