Australian gov’t to set up $32.5m health maintenance fund for WA hospitals

The fund will roll out across 2025-26 and 2026-27.

The Australian government will set up a $32.5m (A$50m) Health Asset Maintenance Fund to prioritise maintenance of older hospitals in Western Australia.

The fund will roll out across 2025-26 and 2026-27, with projects planned for Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Royal Perth Hospital, and Armadale Health Service.

It will be provided in addition to the state government’s existing 2025–26 hospital maintenance budget of $176m (A$271m).

The fund also comes on top of the $2.08b (A$3.2b) health infrastructure budget over the next four years.

Meanwhile, existing funding for health service providers for minor repairs, upkeep, and the minor building and works programme will continue.
