Australian gov’t invests $37.8m in Victoria’s emergency care

The funding will increase the number of short-stay units and nurses.

The Australian government is investing $37.8m (A$58.4m) to address overcrowding and delays in Victoria’s emergency departments.

The funding will increase the number of short-stay units, allowing patients to be treated without requiring full admission to hospital wards.

The package also includes the deployment of additional nurse practitioners in emergency departments.

The investment builds on the new ‘Standards for Safe and Timely Ambulance and Emergency Care’.
