Australian gov’t invests $189,000 to NSW aged care transition project

The funding follows an initial grant awarded in May 2024.

The Australian government will allocate an additional $189,000 (A$300,000) to the Community Industry Group (CI Group) to support the transition of older people from hospital to aged care in the Illawarra Shoalhaven region, New South Wales.

The funding follows an initial grant awarded in May 2024, allowing CI Group to build on existing work, whilst focusing on engaging external stakeholders and exploring options to expedite aged care transition.

In collaboration with the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District, the group will assist RACF providers in implementing immediate occupancy expansion initiatives and identifying alternative aged care options.

Over the past year, the project has focused on implementing sustainable strategies to streamline these transitions.
