Australian gov’t funds $324k grant for Legionnaires’ Disease research

The grant will support the development of a genomic surveillance system.

The Australian government in New South Wales has awarded a $324k (A$500k) grant to NSW Health Pathology at Westmead Hospital to support research improving the detection and response to Legionnaires’ disease outbreaks.

The grant will support the development of a genomic surveillance system to enhance the process of matching samples, enabling faster identification of links between cases.

The research will be hosted by the NSW Health Pathology’s Institute of Clinical Pathology and Medical Research at Westmead.
