Australian gov’t allocates $1.3m to support general practices in Tasmania
The funding will support infrastructure expansions and the purchase of new medical equipment.
Australia has allocated nearly $1.3m (A$2m) in funding to six general practices across Tasmania to improve access and ensure the long-term sustainability of clinics in rural and regional areas.
The funding will support a variety of projects, such as expanding practice infrastructure to meet growing patient demand, including the addition of new consulting rooms and short-stay accommodation for locum staff.
Other initiatives include purchasing new ICT and medical equipment, staff training and development, and establishing a new satellite general practice clinic in Bushy Park.
The funding recipients include Beaconsfield Family Medical Practice, Deloraine & Westbury Medical Centre, Derwent Valley Medical Centre, Patrick Street Clinic, Prospect Medical Complex, and George Town Medical Centre.
