Australia invests $474,000 to upgrade Upper Hunter health facilities in NSW
The funding will be distributed evenly across three key projects.
The Australian government is investing $474,000 (A$750,000) to improve hospital and healthcare facilities in the Upper Hunter region of New South Wales.
The funding will be distributed evenly across three key projects. Scone Memorial Hospital will receive $158,000 (A$250,000) to expand its emergency department by converting a temporary overflow area into a permanent space.
Meanwhile, Muswellbrook Hospital will use its share to build a new palliative care room, which will include an ensuite and carer support space.
Dungog Hospital will also receive $158,000 (A$250,000) to develop new staff accommodation, increasing capacity for temporary healthcare workers.
Hunter New England Local Health District has scheduled the completion of these upgrades for the 2025/2026 financial year.
