Australia invests $1.3b in transforming health and medical research
The investment includes $927.6m (AU$1.4b) under the MRFF.
The Australian government has announced its plans to invest $1.3b (AU$1.89b) in health and medical research.
The investment includes a fund of $927.6m (AU$1.4b) under the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) for new research on cancers with low survival rates and reducing health system inequality
The investment will also focus on further studies on women’s health, chronic pain, and alcohol and other drug treatment, as well as continue existing streams of MRFF funding.

Meanwhile, $41.1m (AU$62m) will be provided to 26 projects under the MRFF’s clinical trials activity initiative.
These trials will focus on areas such as chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, and treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), rare cancers, and osteoarthritis.
