These facilities are part of the extra 29 clinics announced and funded through the 2024-25 budget.
Australia is set to unveil six Medicare Urgent Care Clinics ( UCCs) in the remote regions of the Northern Territory (NT).
These facilities are part of the extra 29 clinics announced and funded through the 2024-25 budget as part of a $148.6m (A$227m) expansion of the Medicare UCC Programme.
In line with this, existing remote UCCs in Alyangula, Wurrumiyanga, and Maningrida will transition to become part of the programme.
Moreover, three facilities will be established in Elcho Island, as well as the regions of Big Rivers and Barkly.
According to the government, the location of these clinics was chosen in partnership with NT Health and the Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory to increase primary care services capacity in remote areas.
