Australia to establish six health hubs for women's health
Three facilities will be located in regional Victoria.
The Australian government is set to establish six new hubs dedicated to sexual and reproductive healthcare as part of a $102m (A$153m) women’s health package.
According to the government, the hubs will be located based on an area’s high demand for women’s healthcare and lack of services, wherein three will be built in regional Victoria.
The upcoming facilities were reportedly selected following extensive sector consultation and are expected to cater to at least 4,000 more women annually.
“The gender health gap is real – and it needs to be addressed. With these hubs, we’ll help make sure more women can get the affordable and accessible care they need,” Premier Jacinta Allan, said.
The new additions join the current network of 14 hubs that deliver free or low-cost care services including sexual health testing and treatment amongst others.
