Aboriginal health service launches in Melbourne’s North

The VAHS was granted $1.34m to relocate to a larger, purpose-built facility in South Morang.

The Australian government has announced the opening of a new Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) clinic in Melbourne’s North for the First Nations population.

Located in South Morang, the VAHS was granted $1.34m (A$2m) to relocate to a larger purpose-built facility, providing specialised therapeutic, cultural, and clinical services, particularly for women and children.

The service also received $401k (A$600k) to purchase two vans for primary and dental health mobile outreach services.

In a statement, the South Morang clinic is estimated to serve over 3,500 individuals in the coming years, with a significant portion of its clientele expected to be young families.
