Hoan My Thu Duc International General Hospital achieved Hospital of the Year - Vietnam at Healthcare Asia Awards 2022
The hospital has become the first private COVID-19 treatment hospital in Vietnam.
Hoan My Thu Duc International General Hospital (HMTDIGH) has clinched the Hospital of the Year - Vietnam at Healthcare Asia Awards 2022 for its stellar performance amidst uncertain times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Despite being put into operations in March 2021, the hospital has already overcome all difficulties and carried out its mission of protecting public health. It continuously proposed many new solutions to effectively comply with the national strategies in epidemic prevention.
It has done community vaccination campaigns, as well as screening, tracing, and breaking the chain of infection. The hospital became the first private COVID-19 treatment hospital in Vietnam – excellently operating a "split hospital" model to ensure the maximum capacity for non-COVID-19 medical examination and treatment whilst still meeting the demand for receiving and treating people with COVID-19.
HMTDIGH received support and recognition from government leaders, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control, leaders of Ho Chi Minh City, the Department of Health and other local government organisations during the period.
As a result, the hospital quickly implemented three strategically upgrading programs including establishing a screening, threading and isolation area in April 2021, setting up a private hospital for COVID-19 treatment in Vietnam in August 2021, as well as applying a "comprehensive care" model and perfecting the "split hospital" model in October 2021, to simultaneously meet the health care needs of people in the new period.
The hospital has organised more than 30 volunteer groups, undertaken more than 23,000 COVID-19 vaccines for the community, performed nearly 500,000 screening tests, received and cured more than 1,100 COVID-19 patients with moderate to severe symptoms, in addition to serving hundreds of outpatients and emergency visits daily whilst performing high-tech and intensive techniques, in order to provide non-COVID-19 patients with appropriate, safe and efficient choices.
Moreover, the number of medical staff infected with COVID-19 remains in a low proportion, with most of them having mild and moderate symptoms and no one suffering from sequelae of COVID-19 or any other psychological problems after completing their duties. This resulted from BOD’s attempt to bring the highest living conditions and supportive policy to their employees.
With this progress, HMTDIGH is the very first hospital in Hoan My Medical Group to have a positive EBITDA in the first year of operation, reaching a revenue of VND209b.
The awards programme aims to honour hospitals, clinics and other healthcare providers that have risen above the challenges and made a remarkable impact on their patients amidst the massive disruption caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
