Fresenius Medical Care Singapore Pte Ltd wins at Healthcare Asia Medtech Awards 2026
Its AR training empowered nurses, whilst personalised dialysis boosted patient outcomes.
Fresenius Medical Care Singapore Pte Ltd won Digital Innovation of the Year - Singapore and Patient Advocacy Program of the Year - Singapore at the Healthcare Asia Medtech Awards 2026.
The Digital Innovation of the Year award recognised the company’s augmented reality (AR) retraining programme. Nurses use AR to visualise and rehearse steps for operating Continuous Kidney Replacement Therapy (CKRT) devices. The training solution leverages augmented reality to allow nurses to practise on a flexible schedule. Nurses can train at their own pace, rehearse troubleshooting scenarios, and better prepare for handling complex situations whilst caring for patients in intensive care units (ICUs).
Results showed clear gains: nurses reduced setup times by a median of 20%. Confidence also increased in complex scenarios, and stress levels were lower as staff felt better prepared for real‑world use. AR transforms training into an engaging experience that bridges initial instruction and hands‑on practice.
The Patient Advocacy Program of the Year award recognised the company’s personalised dialysis approach. The Company’s EuCliD system, a health data platform, collects real‑time patient treatment information, including demographics, laboratory results, dialysis machine data, and body composition monitoring. This consolidated view enables care teams to track key outcomes such as hospitalisation rates and quality of life, supporting more informed and individualised clinical decision‑making.
Advanced analytics and artificial intelligence models further enhance care planning. The Anaemia Control Model (ACM) recommends doses for erythropoiesis‑stimulating agents and iron to stabilise haemoglobin levels, drawing on data from more than one million records. The Fistula Failure Model (FFM) predicts arteriovenous fistula failure risks in the next three months.
In addition, a Hypotension Prediction Model flags risks of low blood pressure during dialysis sessions, which allows staff to take preventive measures. Advanced benchmarking adjusts for patient risk profiles to enable fair comparisons across centres. Together, these data‑driven approaches have contributed to reduced hospitalisation rates, even as patient populations age, whilst maintaining low mortality rates relative to registry data.
The Healthcare Asia Medtech Awards honours the most exemplary medtech companies across Asia. It serves as a platform for organisations to showcase their pioneering medical devices, life-saving software, or top-notch healthcare solutions, amongst other innovations.
