A.Menarini Singapore PTE. LTD. (Malaysia) honoured at Healthcare Asia Pharma Awards 2025

The company received recognition for promoting an initiative in catching mild cognitive impairment early.

A.Menarini Singapore PTE. LTD. (Malaysia) bagged the Marketing & Communications Initiative of the Year - Malaysia category at the Healthcare Asia Pharma Awards 2025, which commends the company’s effort in tackling mild cognitive impairment (MCI) through collaboration and education.

With the growing elderly population, Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) is becoming more common, increasing the risk of dementia. However, managing MCI remains challenging due to low awareness, social stigma, and limited healthcare resources. Many healthcare providers are not fully equipped to recognise or diagnose MCI, resulting in missed opportunities for early intervention. Additionally, the lack of structured guidelines and referral systems in primary care makes consistent management difficult

To tackle these challenges, A.Menarini Singapore PTE. LTD. (Malaysia) formed the MCI Steering Committee, bringing together experts to develop expert consensus on MCI management endorsed by medical societies.

To support primary care providers, A.Menarini partnered with the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Association (MPA) and the Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) to offer educational modules for general practitioners and pharmacists. 

A key milestone was the co-creation of the Visual Cognitive Assessment Test (VCAT) with ACT4Health, a University of Malaya spin-off, to enhance communication between patients and healthcare providers. Additionally, the development of an MCI VCAT algorithm helped streamline patient assessment and management, ensuring more effective and structured care.

In a public outreach initiative, A.Menarini, CARiNG Pharmacy, and ACT4Health provided free VCAT screenings at select CARiNG Pharmacy outlets, encouraging early detection and intervention. These efforts significantly increased VCAT screenings and established EGB 761 as a recognised treatment for MCI, improving patient care and advancing the healthcare industry.

Through continued education, awareness initiatives, and practical tools, A.Menarini Singapore PTE. LTD. (Malaysia) is changing the conversation and making great strides in fighting MCI.
