CooperVision scales digital myopia trials across Asia
New digital trial program simplifies myopia treatment.
CooperVision has launched a digital program to increase awareness of myopia control, streamline clinic trials, and simplify the process of myopia treatment for children across Asia-Pacific. This initiative is part of CooperVision’s mission to educate parents on myopia’s health consequences beyond vision correction.
“One of the big needs in the market is for us to educate the parents about the dangers of myopia, that it’s not just about needing glasses, but there’s a much bigger health consequence for the child,” said Kathy Park, President of CooperVision Asia-Pacific.
The program, piloted in Korea, allows clinics to digitally register patients for myopia control trials, making it easier for busy doctors to offer the trials and for families to participate. “We worked with the clinic to design a program where, at the clinic, there will be a way to register for a trial digitally,” Park explained.
As a result, CooperVision has seen an increase in patients opting for myopia trials and a notable improvement in retention rates among children using the lenses. “The trial has increased because it’s made the process so much easier for the doctors to be offering a trial for the patients,” Park stated, noting the program’s success in supporting parents in maintaining proper lens care at home.
CooperVision plans to extend its digital myopia awareness efforts to additional Asia-Pacific markets, partnering closely with medical professionals to ensure a guided treatment approach. Looking ahead, Park anticipates that in five years, “there will be a lot more conversations about myopia as a controllable disease.”
