Staff shortages and financial woes challenge Singapore's healthcare quality
Six in 10 healthcare leaders reported delays in patient care due to staffing issues.
Staff shortages and financial challenges have hampered healthcare institutions in Singapore from providing timely and high-quality care for its patients.
Data from Philips APAC showed that 60% of leaders reported delays in patient care due to staffing issues, while 79% cited financial difficulties as a barrier to maintaining high standards of care.
Nearly all healthcare leaders (96%) agree that data-driven insights can improve care, yet 84% face significant challenges in data integration.
These difficulties often lead to increased operational costs (36%), poor coordination among providers (35%), and higher risks to patient safety and quality of care (35%).
To overcome these issues, leaders are focusing on enhancing data security (44%), accuracy (42%), patient access (40%), and system interoperability (38%).
There is also strong interest in AI for clinical decision support, patient monitoring (67%), medication management (64%), and treatment planning (61%).
However, leaders are cautious about data bias, emphasizing the need for diversity in AI (51% vs 38% globally), transparency (48%), and ethical data practices (42%).
Philips APAC said cross-sector collaboration can address these challenges.
