Abu Dhabi and MIT Koch advance AI-driven cancer research
It includes physician-scientist fellowships.
The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DOH) and the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) will collaborate to advance artificial intelligence-enabled oncology research, translational science, and bioconvergence innovation.
In a press release, the DOH said the partnership is aligned with the UAE's National Cancer Strategy and centres on three initiatives—large-scale, multi-institutional clinical trials and translational research studies; DOH's participation in MIT's Bioconvergence Cancer Alliance; and the establishment of shared research databases and biobanks.
Beyond research, the collaboration includes physician-scientist fellowships, bilateral exchange programs, and joint learning opportunities aimed at building AI and computational biology capabilities amongst healthcare professionals in both regions.
It will also establish a bioconvergence incubator to support early-stage startups through mentorship, expertise, and investment.
