South Korea strengthens healthcare cooperation in deals with Indonesia, Philippines

The MoUs were signed during the 79th World Health Assembly.

South Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare Minister Jeong Eun Kyeong signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on healthcare cooperation with the Philippines and Indonesia.

The MoU with Indonesia incorporates the objectives of the 1 April MoU on artificial intelligence (AI)-driven primary healthcare and human resource development.

The two ministers agreed to strengthen training for healthcare professionals and support the expansion of Korean medical institutions' activities in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, areas of cooperation under the MoU with the Philippines include health workforce development, AI-based healthcare, data systems, digital health and public health governance.

The MoUs were signed on 19 and 20 May in Geneva, Switzerland, on the sidelines of the 79th World Health Assembly.
