Korea, Japan, and China sign key agreements to bolster health cooperation
The three countries will strengthen institutional coordination to improve public health safety.
Park Minsoo, Korea’s 2nd Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, Fukuoka Takamaro, Japan’s Minister of Health, Labor, and Welfare, and Lei Haichao, Head of China’s National Health Commission, have signed key agreements to enhance health cooperation.
The health ministers revised and signed the tripartite memorandum of cooperation and the joint action plan on preparedness and response against infectious diseases with pandemic or high consequence potential of common concern.
Following these documents, Korea, Japan, and China will strengthen institutional coordination to improve public health safety across the region.
The three countries will also expand both bilateral and multilateral cooperation to promote healthy ageing and advance universal health coverage.
During the 17th Tripartite Health Ministers' Meeting in Tokyo, the representatives discussed strengthening multi-layered health security cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region.
In line with this, they adopted the Joint Statement of the Tripartite Health Ministers’ Meeting.
