South Korea unveils seven new projects under ARPA-H initiative

A total of $850m (KRW1.146t) will be allocated over nine years to support R&D efforts.

The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute announced seven new projects as part of the Korean ARPA-H initiative and issued a call for research and development proposals to implement them.

The initiative will allocate a total of approximately $850m (KRW1.16t) over nine years from 2024 to 2032 to support R&D efforts aimed at carrying out five designated imperative missions.

These missions include establishing health security, overcoming unconquered diseases, securing leading-edge technologies in biohealth, improving welfare and care, and advancing essential medical services.

The first phase of the Korean ARPA-H initiative was launched in July with the announcement of three projects focused on establishing health security and enhancing welfare and care.
