NSW completes $297m rural health overhaul
The first stage of the Blayney project added residential aged care and health services.
The Blayney Multipurpose Service (MPS) redevelopment project has completed Stage 1, adding new aged care and healthcare services to Blayney and surrounding areas.
Stage 1 features a new residential aged care wing with single rooms and private bathrooms, additional inpatient unit beds, and space for future expansion.
The project is the final one under the New South Wales Government’s $198.49m (AU$297m) Multipurpose Service Program, aimed at improving healthcare in rural and remote communities.
Local staff, aged care residents, and families contributed feedback during the planning and design stages to ensure the facility meets community needs. Construction is being phased to keep existing services running.
The next phase, expected to finish in 2027, will involve demolishing existing buildings to make way for a new HealthOne facility, entry area, reception, waiting room, staff areas, and an ambulatory care section.
The Blayney MPS redevelopment is managed by Health Infrastructure and Western NSW Local Health District, in partnership with Taylor Construction Group.
The Blayney community can tour the new facilities on Thursday, 22 January 2026, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., with the project team and healthcare staff available to answer questions.
