NZ invests $16.25m for hybrid operating theatre at Wellington Hospital
The facility will combine high-resolution imaging systems with a surgical suite.
Health New Zealand has approved $9.14m (NZ$16.25m) to establish a new hybrid operating theatre at Wellington Regional Hospital.
The facility will combine high-resolution imaging systems with a fully equipped surgical suite, enabling clinical teams to perform complex trauma, vascular, and interventional radiology procedures in one space.
Under the current model, patients may need to be seen by two different teams in separate rooms, said Health Minister Simeon Brown.
“By consolidating care in one space, Wellington Regional Hospital will be able to increase its surgical output, allowing more patients to receive timely, quality treatment,” Brown added.
