Indonesia’s MedTech import market hit $3.28b in 2024

The market rebounded by 77.8% after contracting to $1.79b in 2022.

Indonesia’s medical technology import market reached $3.28b in 2024, following a period of volatility, according to a Pure Global report.

The market contracted to $1.79b in 2022, a decline of 19.9%, before rebounding 77.8% to its 2024 peak.

The rebound was driven by elective and high-acuity procedures, reflecting efforts to address surgical backlogs and support long-term hospital development, the report said.

The fastest-growing specialities in 2024 were Orthopaedics (+552.8%), Ear, Nose, & Throat (+267.4%), and Dental (+186.4%).

Meanwhile, the 2022 contraction was attributed to the end of pandemic-related emergency procurement.

Key segments affected included Clinical Chemistry (IVD/testing), which declined 72.6%, and Anesthesiology (respiratory support), which fell by 49.9%.
