New cath lab opens at Tauranga Hospital
The facility offers interventional services like angiography.
A new cardiac catheterisation laboratory has opened at Tauranga Hospital, replacing the hospital’s original suite, according to New Zealand Health Minister Simeon Brown.
The lab offers interventional services such as angiography, stenting, pacemaker insertion, electrophysiology, and endovascular aneurysm repair.
“Currently, some patients needing complex, non-surgical heart procedures must travel to Waikato or Auckland to receive treatment,” Brown said.
The facility will initially operate five sessions per week, with plans underway to increase this to ten.
