SurgMate develops simulators for minimally invasive training
The company aims to meet demand for realistic practice platforms amidst growing adoption of complex medical procedures.
SurgMate is ramping up innovation in medical simulation to help healthcare professionals prepare for complex procedures without practicing directly on patients.
Speaking at Medical Taiwan 2025, SurgMate co-founder and COO Ryan Su said the company offers hands-on simulators for minimally invasive cardiovascular and tumor treatment procedures.
“For example, this is a ECMO cannulation, an endovascular procedures training platform which allows doctors to perform ECMO cannulation and also connect with ECMO machine to perform scenario based training,” Su said, noting that the platform includes both adult and upcoming pediatric versions.
Another model focuses on thyroid ablation: “You can put this module into here so that you can perform biopsy and also ablation,” Su explained.
The company’s goal is to reduce on-patient learning by offering realistic practice tools. “We hope healthcare professionals do not practice their skills necessary to treat patients,” Su said.
