Contractor named for $1.2b new women and babies hospital project

The project will replace the century-old King Edward Memorial Hospital.

The $1.2b (A$1.8b) new Women and Babies Hospital in Western Australia has progressed with WeBuild appointed as the managing contractor for the project, according to the state government.

The project will replace the century-old King Edward Memorial Hospital and will include inpatient facilities for gynaecology and maternity patients.

The upcoming establishment will also feature a neonatology unit for newborns needing specialised care, operating theatres, a family birthing centre and outpatient clinics.

The hospital is expected to be completed by 2029, with construction to start later this year.
