P. D. Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Centre (MRC) has opened a dedicated living will clinic in India to support individuals in planning their future healthcare decisions.
The clinic guides individuals through advanced care planning, such as documenting treatment choices. It also offers information and support to help patients communicate their wishes to family members.
“Conversations around end-of-life care are difficult, but are an extremely essential part of advance care planning,” said Smriti Khanna, Consultant – Palliative Medicine at P. D. Hinduja Hospital & MRC.
“We believe the living will process is at the core of personalised medicine, as it allows individuals to reflect deeply about what quality of life means to them and express their wishes clearly,” Khanna added.
A living will is a legal document that enables people to record their preferences for medical treatment in the event of serious illness or unforeseen circumstances.
