First Ambulance Services expands rural emergency care
Firm unveils off-road EMS strategy.
First Ambulance Services is stepping up efforts to improve emergency medical services (EMS) in Malaysia’s most underserved regions. Speaking at the APHM conference, co-located with The Health Industry Series – ASEAN 2025 in Malaysia, Business Development Manager Ridhwan Abu Bakar said the company is focused on “transforming rural emergency care through innovations and public-private partnership.”
To address emergency access challenges in areas like Borneo and parts of Peninsular Malaysia, First Ambulance is showcasing 4x4 ambulances built for off-road conditions. “Challenges… will be in line with the conference theme, which is sustainable funding and consistent access, especially in isolated areas,” Ridhwan said.
What sets the company apart is its dual role as both service provider and EMS operator. “We’re not just transporters here… Our staff, we understand what the need of the field is,” he said. “We provide service to a lot of the private hospitals here, so we understand the needs of the client, the patient and the paramedics.”
First Ambulance has designed its fleet specifically for local conditions. “The ambulance is built… for Malaysia,” he added, highlighting its full-scope solution which includes trained teams, a robust fleet, and end-to-end service delivery.
